Auto4X is prototyped along with Virtual Captains


So last night I stayed up way too late, but I managed to get the galaxy generation, empires, and virtual captains tied together. No builds to release yet (still needs a lot of balancing, but good enough to get other parts working). I do have a video up of the galaxy running at about 1000X speed (estimated to be 16 hours at 1X speed).

In Starship Command 2, the only captains that moved around in the galaxy were created by (and controlled by) the player. All other empire actions were abstracted away.

In Starship Command 2X, you are not alone in the galaxy! Virtual captains perform the same actions as the players do for their empires. This also opens up being able to have empire-less fleets, like pirate fleets, that can be wiped out giving the galaxy a pirate era and post-pirate era.

I'm also playing with creating a logger utility to write any event that happens in the game (colonization, attacks, research gains, etc.) to a file so the history can be preserved.
